Meeting Minutes

  1. Opening: Ned Stoll opened the meeting at 11:30am in the Cub Scout Room of the Scout Hut. Total attendance was 8 people:

  2. Review of old business:
    1. Minutes from last meeting: No changes to the Minutes from Feb 05, those minutes are on our web site: .
    2. District meeting notes: Ned summarized the following events:
      9 Apr 05, 0800-1200 - Scout leader training at Scout Hut 0800-1200.
      16 Apr 05 0900- Pack 89 Day Camp at Field 10 on South Post Yongsan.
      23 Apr 05, 0900 - Fun Fair at CDC. Pack 89 will have a booth for recruiting.
      14 May 05, 0900 - Scout Bellou Training for all Cub Scout leaders, but focused on Weblos.
      21 May 05 0800 - District Pinewood Derby Race at SAES Gym.
      22-24 Jun 05 - Resident Camp at Camp Humphreys: Transportation is still an issue, which Pete is working. BPT car pool. POC Jenn.
  3. Treasurer's Report: The Pack cleared $1000.00 from the Bowl-Athon, $200.00 donation from Sponsor. AFSC donated scales for Pinewood Derby, and Tonya is drafting request for a laptop, supplies and some uniform items. Scout Hut balance is $1356.87. Checking balance is $5.30. Cash Box has $247.50, $100.00 from Colt Morris Bowl-Athon and $30.00 from Book Sales.
  4. Casual Pack T-shirt - T-shirt sales complete. Will do iteration prior to year's end. Orders to Tonya soonest.
  5. Other Committee Reports:
    1. Membership: No change.
    2. Secretary: No change.
    3. Cubmaster: No change.
    4. Activity Coordinators:
      1. Bowl-Athon February 21: Major fund-raiser! Premiums are all ordered, some items have arrived. Will be awarded at Apr Pack Meeting. Darcy is the POC for this event.
      2. Cub Scout 75th Anniversary Project: Leaders, continue to email Tonya a list of all the boys in your den who participate in any 75th Anniversary activities. Two Dens have completed all activities. Will continue Pack activities to earn award for the Pack. Tonya is the POC for this event.
  6. New Business:
    1. Scout Day Camp Apr 16: On plan. Cost is $65, however this amount can be reduced by $13 (20% FOS discount), $15 (register by 15 Feb) and $10 (if a parent volunteers). Adult Leader Training completed last Saturday. Adult Staff meet at 0700 at Scout Hut to load van/cars. One Tiger parent must accompany their Tiger (at no cost and no discounts apply), if a t-shirt and/or meal is desired there will be a charge for that. Location is Field 10, behind Chosun Gift Shop on South Post, Yongsan. Go to our web site for application forms or pick up the information package in the Scout Hut. It is important that all specified dates be met or the District may be forced to cancel some events or the entire camp. Jenn is the POC for this event.
    2. Cub Scout Residence Camp June 22-24: mentioned above. Registration requires $10.00 registration fee which applies towards the overall $105.00 fee. Mark recommended looking at cost reduction options. Marc and Ned will request some granularity from the District Council and inquire about cost offset (e.g. FOS discounts, Commissary Car Wash fund-raiser). Registration deadline is 15 May 05.
    3. Pack 89 Web Page Discussed requirement to improve Pack 89 Web Site. Far East Council and Pack 81 have very good web sites. Web Master will look at those sites for ideas. Pack leadership will also generate recommendations.
    4. Membership Tracking / PackMaster Tonya has copies of PackMaster. Tonya will email data files based on new membership. She will update data file from Den Leader or designee ONLY. This will streamline awards tracking which Tonya has established on a centralized database which will belong to the Pack vs an individual pack89awards@yahoo.com .
    5. Cross Over - Arrow of Light: Scheduled for 22 April Pack Meeting. On plan. Larry has now booked the cafeteria from 1830 - 2130. Order of the Arrow will assist. Scouts will cross over as first order of business, then depart.
    6. Pack 89 Picnic 11 Jun 05, 1100, Picnic Areas 1 and 2 (MP Hill). Will involve Cub-led Bridging Ceremony. Tigers and Wolves will need to produce a bridge prop. Discussed re-cycle plan for neckerchiefs.
    7. May Pack Meeting Will be scheduled for 20 May 1900. Larry will schedule SAES Cafeteria H.
  7. Open Forum:
    1. 17-20 May 05 is school registration. Pete will staff recruiting table. Coordinate with Jo and Don for Pack representation at the Scout Table.
    2. Larry asked for Pack Committee position descriptions. Ned has produced those and will distribute to present committee members for update/revision then provide to Rich to post on Web Site.
    3. Tonya requested an inventory of Den Leader Essential Kits (blue tubs) NLT 9 Apr 05 IOT re-stock these for distribution to new Den Leaders. Bring tubs to May Pack Meeting and turn over to Tonya.
    4. Submit Leader award requests to Tonya NLT 1 May 05.
  8. Closing: There being no further business Ned thanked everyone for their attendance and that he appreciated the hard work everyone was putting into the Cub Scouts and Pack 89. The next pack meeting is 22 Apr. This meeting was concluded at 1300.
