  1. (In attendance: Ned (Committee Chairman), Darcy (Cubmaster), Rich (Website) and Larry (Treasurer).
(These are my notes from the meeting. Please feel free to pass them on to your den parents. As always, typos/misspelled words and any items that need correction are not necessarily a reflection of those that were in attendance. ;-)ha! -Darcy :-)

    NEXT PACK MEETING - Oct. 28th - 7pm
  2. Treasurer $$ - Larry
He is working on a budget all on one page that will enable us to forecast our spending throughout the year. He is also going to have a book that will have some financial history for planning purposes that will be kept in the locker at the Scout hut.
  3. Website @ Rich
He is going to be moving the website to:
www.pack89korea.org (it hasn't move yet but will soon) ** Den Leaders - Please email Den info. to Rich. You can post your den meeting time and place, upcoming events or just about anything you want your den to know OR what you want the rest of us to know ABOUT your den! Also there will be email links on the website soon.
  4. Notes from discussion on Den Size: "We have to restructure. We can't wait! Right now we have boys waiting for Den leaders. We also have some dens bulging at the seams. Per our Pack guidelines, dens are to consist of no more than 8 boys. If you find your den is growing, SUPER! However we cannot provide a quality program for each boy when the den exceeds 8 boys, even with extra assistant leaders. Please ask your parents to consider being a Den Leader and starting a new den. As your neighbors and friends! We want every boy to have a fun and quality scouting experience." ***For anyone thinking about taking on a new den - Don't worry!! You aren't alone! We've all been in your shoes! There is so much support around you! We are here for you! There is training in two weeks (check calendar online), a training Quick Start in the shop and online information! So don't feel overwhelmed with the idea! Scouting is about having fun and learning together! And the annual 'Scout Helps' booklet provided to us by the National Office is SUPER! It has all your den meetings for the entire year planned out for you. Also it ties us together as a Pack and keeps us connected for pack meetings by a common theme thread. -
  5. Pack Committee Darcy's Note - (Cubmaster)
    1. I would like to see us follow the Helps booklet. If you don't have one stop by and see Tonya at the Scout Hut, as one is available to each Den Leader provided by the Pack. So if you are just starting a den it will "help" you know which way to go with that rank of scouts. If you are new to scouting and have taken on running a den, bless you! And the Helps will lead you the whole way!!
    2. So LEADERS, please take a look at the October theme of " To the Rescue". You will see there are games, activities and a opening and closing ceremonies to make our meeting fun! I know that some of you have your month planned out....and most of your year possibly, with a plan for rank progression. So this may throw a bit of a bend in your path. You won't need to change your plan but I would like to ask you to add in at least the one part of the Pack Meeting as a responsibility for your den to take on. Our previous Cubmaster, Ricky, made up a list of who had what job each month at the pack meeting. I am happy to do that starting next month, with your help. But this month I am asking for Leaders of each den to pick one part. Most of you may have your meetings already planned for the month and this is adding to your schedule. So why don't you pick one activity that you think will fit into your schedule OR one you really want to do? For those of you feeling a bit overwhelmed. The rest of us that have been scouting for a few years understand!! We've all been there! Get your Helps book out and let's make our Pack Meetings easier and more fun for everyone involved!!!
      >>> Please le me know what which part you want to do. Also will we have a need for the Bobcat Advancement ceremony listed? Sounds like fun for some new scouts, whether they are new to the scouting and have never earned it or they are a new Wolf. But don't want to plan something we won't need. (Also the skit "How to dial 9-1-1" can easily be changed to our local number of 1-1-7 for a fire.)
    3. In that thought....We need to have a few people from different safety agencies to come to our Pack Meeting. I am working with the fire department. Does anyone have a contact at the hospital or with the MPs that can ask someone to come to our meeting on the 28th? I am thinking it would be nice to have a nurse, an EMT, two SPs and a doctor? I have two contact for doctors but don't know if they can come yet. Please let me know if you can make arrangements for someone to come. Please ask them to arrive by 6:45pm. Also if we have a den that volunteers to run the game listed then let the visitors know we may ask them to help with the stations. Thanks!
  6. T-Shirts - Tonya
They are all gone but one small! Hurray! So we need to order more! Please send your Den's order to her by October 15th. Anyone who doesn't get to order this time will be gathered into additional orders. Those additional orders over the next few months will be placed when we have enough requests to place an order.
  7. Awards! - Tonya
Please send your list (or Packmaster data) to her by the 15th of October. Also if you still need a copy of Packmaster please let her know.
  8. Blue and Gold - (POC?):
The idea has come up that we should hold it in the cafeteria this year and have a potluck. Last year, for those of you not here, we held it at the Dragon. Those of us in attendance Saturday agreed that we don't want to have a potluck. We like it being in a nicer place and not having to worry about taking food or cleaning up!! Any other ideas? What about holding it off-post? Larry is checking into what the price we can get at the Hamilton and Darcy am checking on the Capital. Both are close and would be very nice venues.
  9. PR - Jeff (POC?) : Can you contact the BOSS agency to recruit new leaders? Can you contact MWR (or whoever prints) the Community booklet that comes out monthly for the post? We need to get just a general Scout and Leader recruiting ad in there. ** (The Girl scouts have one in it and so would know the contact info if you know any leaders.) And right away, we need to put a note up on the electric signs to recruit leaders. I have the contact information for that if you don't.
  10. Space Derby - (Tonya)
It will be held in the cafeteria just prior to the start of November's Pack Meeting from 5-7pm. There won't be any medals but lot's of fun and the scouts will receive Derby cards, segments and patches. Please let her know how many kits you need by October 15th. You will be able to pick up the kits at our this month's Pack Meeting!
  11. Registration - Jen
If boys have registered after Packmaster was sent to you then they are in the 'unfilled' category in the main database. Please send your database to pack89awards@yahoo.com along with the name of the missing scout(s) and she will update the file(s). Also, Tonya is getting new scouts through the Scout Hut. Please update your den records with Jen right away, so she can help you keep your den running smoothly. And she can help new scouts waiting for a den to find one!
  12. Extra Note of Interest:
    1. The Boy Scout troops are electing their officers and will have Boy Scouts looking for service hours. If you would like to have a Boy Scout come to assist you in your den as a Den Chief please send a note with your meeting day/time to Ned (Chairman).
    2. Den Leaders - Name badges
If you are new to our pack or just haven't received one yet, please let Darcy know ASAP.
